Position Purpose The role of the Disability Support Worker is provide support to participants that is flexible and individualised and to facilitate participant involvement in daily activities and living skills programs across all services. Qualifications & Experience Essential - Minimum Certificate III in Disability or other relevant qualification
- DCSI Clearance
- National Police Clearance
- First Aid + CPR
- Have a Driver's License
- Manual Handling
- Working With Children Checks
- NDIS Workers Checks
Desirable - An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
- Experience in the mental health industry will be highly desirable
- Computer and Admin Skills is an advantage
- Office management is another advantage
Tasks & Responsibilities - Assisting participants to perform important daily activities and home based tasks.
- Provide short-term focused interventions, psycho-education, and mentoring.
- Facilitating daily personal hygiene and care tasks.
- Assisting with coordinating and facilitating community access.
- Providing emotional support and encouragement.
- Facilitating participant communication and enhancing their choice and decision-making processes.
- Implementing and monitoring Behaviour Management Strategies as required.
- Empowering participants with learning, skill development and employment.
- Transporting participants to medical and other appointments, and social activities as required
- Upholding the rights, independence and dignity of all participants, ensuring confidentiality and their choices are recognised at all times.
