今天是我来到阿德莱德遭遇最窝心的一天。因为遭遇了恶房东。
我的错误就是,没有和他手签协议,并且当初口头说明的也不清楚。导致现在的尴尬局面。
他当初要求我注满3个月,但我并没有同意,我只是回答不确定,后来他就不了了之下文。我们就这样理所当然的住着。一开始他收了我2周的押金,2周的后期房租(就是如果要离开时提前2周通知的房租)。然后,自从开始住他的房子开始,每周都按时付钱。也就是说他手里押了我们4周的钱。

到今天我们刚注满2个月多一周,因为我最近找到另外近校的房子,提出要搬,他就开始挑毛病,不仅扣我们押金,还要吞噬后2周钱(说是作为第三个月后两周的房租,管你住还是不住),这还不算,还无耻的要我们再付电费(因为当初是说包水不包电)。所以,大家可以清楚了解到,我们碰上小人了。

更离谱的是,他说如果我不付他电费,他要到移民局告我,让我们回中国去。所以,我真的觉得,这老头无耻

因此,我总结出来了,不过是哪个国家,这样的人都存在。所以,不见得澳洲人就是多么有素质的国家。每个国家都有这样的人。但是,我周围的其他当地人明显的和这个房东不同,我的这些朋友都很宽宏大量,不计较。不像这位可怜的房东老头。

虽然,我内心感到气愤,后来,我也想通了,钱丢了无所谓,我有能力再挣,但是,至少通过这件事,给了我一个很好的教训。让我在今后的澳洲生活中都能够学会保护自己利益。本来不想发帖上来,但是总感觉不吐不快,也想给大家提个醒,那就是,不管你英语好还是不好,在租当地人的房子时候,无论如何都要书写一份协议,并且搞明白一切问题,以免遗留后患。搞得自己不开心,不值得。

支持楼主!沟通很重要,就像‘窝心’可以代表不顺心,也可以代表贴心。合同也一样重要,跟鬼佬不要谈什么道德标准和真理标准,谈一般通行标准就行了。

You can talk to the "Residential Tenancy Office" and get your bond back...
It's located on Grenfell St, opposite the Harris Scarf carpark...

According to Aus Law,
1. Basically you are under periodic lease with your landlord and according to law, he should put your bond under the Residential Tenancy Office(the government). If not, he is in trouble.
2. If under periodic lease, and if you gave your landlord "notice to quit" equivalent to your leasehold period, eg. you pay your rent monthly=monthly periodic term, then you could definately get your bond back.
3. you could definately get your 2 weeks rent-in-advance and you don't need to pay electricity cost simply because you didn't use them.
4. Talk to the tenancy officer and they would act as third party to talk to your landlord. He definately breach the Aus Tenancy Law and let them know that you would bring this matter further to the Court (known as Tenancy Tribunal). Don't worry, the Court hearing is simple and it's free as well. You don't need to have a lawyer at all, and you can just represent yourself...
5. Don't worry, the Immigration Office won't care at all....Your Landlord won't have that power to do anything to you through Immigration Office. they would ignore him as he is an idiot.

Fight for your rights...Let those stupid local knows that we chinese are not fool.

Also, your LL definately knows that he did not do the right thing according to Law. If you threat him that you're going to the Court, he would probably back off and refund you the bond (hopefully). Locals are always like this... Ask the tenancy officer to represent for you and they are really friendly and nice.

I wish you could get your money back.

lz不要有顾虑,觉得不该给的一分也不要给,我相信你给房租他也没有交相应的税,他其实才不敢告你呢

lz放心, 别的部门都不用麻烦,那样花的时间很长的,直接找ISSU,我有朋友就是这样的情况,学校出面找的警察,连搬家费都省了,3天后,恶房东陪着笑脸,让去取钱呢。你如果不强硬起来,他以后会更嚣张的,会有更多的人受害。我们留学生也是有人保护的,没什么好窝火的,不用委屈自己。

真系一定要签协议才行啊!!有人还告诉我签协议不好呢,现在看了LZ的帖子,觉得不签还真不行

俺也碰过不好的homestay 那种无助与伤心  现在想到都要含眼泪!
