(1.) Chinese in PRC are just getting rich while many are still living in poverty. On the other hand, the West had the money already and enjoyed wealthy lifestyle for decades.
(2.) Yes, bribing party officials to get a position in the party is the right way to find talent. The officials in power get all sorts of benefits from taking bribe and that's not for personal gain, but really it is working for the people and the country.
(3.) China has it's occupation at Tienanmen Square in 1989!!! The party crush every public demonstration with force since. Just because you crush it with force does not mean it didn't happen.
(4.) The government officials having many mistress and sleeping with prostitute every night, spending government money on banquet and expensive wine have really high moral don't they?
Like the author, I think the winner is not the country that sticks to a single strategy, but rather the one that act appropriately according to change. Western countries may run into trouble now, but are capable of change. There is an election every 3-5 years for the many Western democracies where people put their new head of state and new political party in power, along with change to political view and policy change. I am baffled by what makes the author think that a country rule by a single political party can change and adapt quicker than Western democracies.
Do not get too confident on 中国特色社会主义. The welfare of many underprivileged Chinese were sacrifice for rapid growth. Do not expect they are willing to continue to make the sacrifice. Once they realized they have the power and demand more, there will be a big setback. The current policies is just delaying the setback and do not avoid it.
Another propaganda to paint the future as bright as possible to feed people with false promises. They should really make the article more balanced.
